Measure the same identifiable audio event at the source, at the origin endpoint, and at the listener-facing edge endpoint.
Source-to-origin delay shows the contribution and encoding path up to the origin. Comparing origin and edge observations shows additional delay introduced after the origin. The final listener measurement can include player buffering as well.
Use the same codec and test method at each point so results are comparable.
