Troubleshooting poor audio quality

What to check for distortion, low level, wrong channels, or unexpected sound.

Listen at the source before encoding, then compare the encoder input, encoded stream, and listener output where possible.

Check input gain, clipping, channel mode, sample rate, codec, bitrate, and any DSP processing. Distortion already present before the encoder cannot be corrected by the streaming server.

Describe whether the issue is clipping, noise, silence, low level, mono/stereo imbalance, or codec artifacts when opening a ticket.
