Understanding broadcast stream latency

Where delay can be introduced between the studio and the listener.

End-to-end latency can be introduced by contribution links, audio interfaces, encoder buffering, codec frame processing, streaming-server queues, network transport, distribution layers, and player buffering.

A single server connection measurement does not reveal all of these components.

For reliable testing, create a known source event and observe it at defined points such as source, origin server, edge delivery, and listener player. Compare timestamps or recordings to isolate where delay is added.
